Middle-earth is returning to the big screen in spectacular fashion, with The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring – In Concert heading to Melbourne this spring to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary.
The unforgettable first chapter of Peter Jackson’s epic trilogy will screen alongside a live performance of Howard Shore’s Academy Award-winning score, performed by a full symphony orchestra, chorus and soloists. More than 200 musicians and choristers will take the stage for the massive production.
Audiences will experience the film in an entirely new way as the score is performed live in sync with the movie, transforming the cinematic adventure into an immersive concert event.
“My first score for The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring, was the beginning of my journey into the world of Tolkien and I will always hold a special fondness for the music and the experience,” Shore said.
Howard Shore’s legendary composition is widely regarded as one of the most ambitious and detailed works in film music history, helping bring J.R.R. Tolkien’s world vividly to life. From the peaceful beauty of the Shire to the dark tension of Mordor, every moment will be amplified by the power of live performance.
The concert experience will once again follow Frodo, Samwise, Merry and Pippin on their iconic journey across Middle-earth, blending film and live music into one unforgettable night.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring – In Concert will take over Melbourne’s John Cain Arena on 30 September and 1 October 2026 before heading to Sydney the following week.
