A major new public park is set to open in Flemington later this year, adding fresh green space, play areas and community facilities to the rapidly changing Holland Court precinct.
Named Murnalung Park by local Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Elders, the 5,000 square metre space takes its name from the word meaning “bee” and is designed to become a central gathering place for residents and visitors alike.
The park will feature a large children’s playground, scooter track, exercise equipment and picnic areas, alongside open spaces that can host community markets and neighbourhood events. New pedestrian and cycling links will also better connect the surrounding area as redevelopment continues across the site.

Murnalung Park is expected to open before completion of the nearby Holland Court housing development, which will deliver 286 new homes to the inner-city suburb. The project includes a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments aimed at families, alongside social and affordable rental housing options.
The new residences are being built with energy-efficient features, modern kitchens, private balconies and European laundries, while the broader precinct will also include Specialist Disability Accommodation, a community room, café space, an amphitheatre and additional pocket park areas.
The redevelopment marks one of the largest transformations currently underway in Flemington, with the former public housing estate gradually evolving into a more mixed-use neighbourhood focused on public spaces, connectivity and higher-density living.
Once complete, Murnalung Park is expected to become one of the key outdoor gathering points for the growing local community, adding another family-friendly green space to Melbourne’s inner north-west.
