Melbourne is about to get a taste of LA as the Los Angeles Rams bring a week of fan experiences, community events and American football fever to the city ahead of the NFL’s first-ever regular season game in Australia.
The Rams will face the San Francisco 49ers at the MCG on Friday, September 11, with Crown Melbourne becoming the official lome of Los Angeles Rams fans in Australia and the team’s official fan hotel.
The biggest celebration will take over Crown Riverwalk from Thursday, September 10 to Saturday, September 12, with Rams House: The LA Tailgate Experience transforming the Yarra waterfront into a free fan zone.
The experience will feature The Tailgate, complete with Rams-branded cars, a LA-inspired food truck, merchandise, a bar, live music, Rams Cheerleaders, the Rams Mariachi band and DJ entertainment. Fans can also get up close to the Super Bowl LVI trophy, meet mascot Rampage and spot some Rams Legends.
There’s also The Deck presented by Microsoft Surface, featuring a 22-yard floating football field, giant screen and viewing area.
“This is about more than a game,” said Los Angeles Rams VP/Head of International Stephanie Cheng.
“Whether you’re a lifelong supporter or completely new to the sport, we’ve designed a week of activity to give everyone a chance to get involved and be part of NFL history in Australia.”
The Rams are also taking the sport into Victorian schools on September 8 and 9, with their first Flag Football Community Day. The program will reach up to 50 government schools, providing teacher training, student clinics and equipment to help grow flag football beyond game week.
Crown Melbourne CEO Ed Domingo said the partnership would bring “the energy and excitement of Los Angeles Rams football to the heart of Melbourne”, with Crown set to host events across the resort.
