Trip-hop pioneers Massive Attack are finally heading back to Australia, announcing their first local tour in 16 years with arena dates locked in for Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne this August.
The Bristol duo, made up of Robert “3D” Del Naja and Grant “Daddy G” Marshall, will return to Australian stages following a huge few months that have seen the group release new music and step back into live performance mode after several years away.
The announcement comes shortly after the release of Boots on the Ground featuring Tom Waits, marking Massive Attack’s first new music since 2020’s Eutopia EP.

The politically charged track continues the group’s long-running mix of dark electronic production and social commentary, something that has remained central to the band throughout their career.
Massive Attack recently returned to the stage for their first live show in five years in Helsinki and are set to headline Primavera Sound Porto this week. Beyond music, the group has also gained recognition for its activism around climate issues, AI, streaming economics and the No Music for Genocide campaign.
Australian fans can catch Massive Attack at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Thursday, 6 August, Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday, 9 August, and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday, 11 August.
Their last studio album, Heligoland, was released in 2010 and reached the top 10 in Australia. More recently, the group collaborated with Young Fathers and Fontaines D.C. on the 2024 charity EP Ceasefire supporting Médecins Sans Frontières operations in Gaza and the West Bank.
Frontier Members can access pre-sale tickets from Thursday, 4 June, before general public tickets go on sale Friday, 5 June via the Frontier Touring website.
