Australian guitarist and singer-songwriter Nathan Cavaleri is stepping into a new kind of spotlight this year, turning his extraordinary life story into an intimate theatre production that blends live music, storytelling and emotional honesty.
Growing Pains – The Nathan Cavaleri Story will launch its national tour at Kingston City Hall in Moorabbin on Saturday 20 June before travelling through regional Victoria and beyond, including stops in Mildura, Swan Hill, Pakenham, St Kilda, Warrnambool and Hamilton.
The solo show traces Cavaleri’s remarkable rise from busking on the streets of Campbelltown as a child to performing on some of the world’s biggest stages before facing anxiety, burnout and the struggle to rediscover himself beyond fame.
By the age of 12, Cavaleri had sparked interest from the labels behind Michael Jackson, Prince and Madonna. Just a few years later, he had toured internationally with blues legend B.B. King and performed alongside icons including Etta James and Bonnie Raitt.

But Growing Pains moves beyond the familiar child prodigy narrative, focusing instead on the human side of life in the spotlight and the emotional toll that came with it.
“Reliving these experiences on stage is like nothing else. It’s a scary thing putting your heart out there and revisiting some of life’s most sensitive moments in front of a crowd, but when we’re all crying, laughing and blissing out together, it reminds me that beneath it all, we have so much in common,” Cavaleri said.
“That’s what makes this show feel so profound and cathartic for all.”
Described as raw, funny and uplifting, the production combines original music with personal reflection, offering audiences something closer to a shared conversation than a traditional concert.
The tour wraps up at Avoca Beach Theatre in November following an extensive run through regional centres and suburban theatres across the country.
